Priyadarshini Roy will present an Odissi performance for the Navaratri Festival. Priyadarshini is one of today’s emerging Odissi exponents. Based in Westchester, Priyadarshini actively performs and teaches Odissi at numerous prestigious cultural centers all over the US as well as abroad. She is the director of Shibaranjani, an organization dedicated to the promotion of Indian art and culture. Odissi is an Indian classical dance and is the oldest surviving dance form of India, dating back to the 2nd Century B.C. Traditionally, only temple dancers performed Odissi in the inner chambers of the temples. Priyadarshini will present “Durga Stuti” and “Moksha”, items from the Odissi repertoire dedicated to Goddess Durga.
